A little absent from the blog recently...
Yeah I know I haven't been around much in the last few months, but I have a really good excuse, I promise.
I'm frantically trying to complete my qualification to become a horticulturalist. I have 1.5 courses to finish by Christmas, and then another 2 early on next year, and then I'm done, I'm finally finished after 2 years of work. I can't wait to graduate.
Some people have asked me why I'm bothering to do this when I won't be getting a job in horticulture at the end of it, but for me it's finally completing something I've always wanted to do. Ever since I was a kid growing up, I've loved plants, gardening, science, and horticulture. It's one of the reasons why I got my PhD in plant biochemistry, and to get a chance to get my horticulture qualification too, it was too good a chance to pass by. So here I am finally achieving one of the dreams I've always wanted to do. And the other thing I'm always conscious of, is that it's important to learn new things, to expand horizons, and that's what I'm doing.
And as for the future, I'm very focused on finishing and publishing the first book in my Navy SEAL series, and also finishing my first Sci-Fi romance novel. And in terms of horticulture and writing, there's a germ of an idea sprouting in my brain for a non-fiction crafting/science/horticulture book, but that will be much later on.
So I better get back to it, my latest horticulture assignment isn't going to finish itself...
